Kenya Wildlife Service works to maintain and restore the ecological integrity of protected areas and the wider landscapes and seascapes that support wildlife. We develop and apply policies, guidelines and standards for ecosystem management, and lead habitat restoration programmes in parks, reserves and connected ecosystems. Our work includes identifying threatened ecosystems and habitats, coordinating recovery programmes for degraded areas, and supporting the conservation of forests, wetlands, savannas and marine ecosystems. We also promote sustainable natural resource use, address pollution impacts through clean-ups and mitigation, and use vegetation and habitat mapping to guide restoration. Climate change adaptation and mitigation actions are integrated into planning and implementation, informed by landscape ecology and ecosystem-based management studies
