About Malindi Marine National Park & Reserve

Malindi Marine National Park & Reserve is Kenya’s oldest marine protected area. Stretching south of Malindi town from the historic Vasco da Gama Pillar, the park offers a vibrant blend of marine adventure, wellness, and coastal beauty.

The park is richly endowed with fringing coral reefs, sheltered lagoon coral gardens, seagrass beds, mangroves, and mudflats, forming a breathtaking seascape teeming with life.

These diverse habitats support an abundance of marine species—including humpback dolphins, sea turtles, rays, reef sharks, and a dazzling variety of reef fish—creating a dynamic underwater world ideal for visual storytelling, photography, and filmmaking.

Calm lagoons and clear waters make the park perfect for marine excursions, snorkeling, scuba diving, and other water sports, while encounters with dolphins, turtles, and schooling fish add to the sense of discovery and wonder.

Beyond the water, mangrove forests and the iconic Vasco da Gama Pillar offer cultural and historical interest, while the coastal setting provides space for outdoor experiences, wellness escapes, and social events. Together with Malindi’s vibrant coastal atmosphere, the park delivers an unforgettable blend of adventure, relaxation, and marine exploration.
