Veterinary & Capture Services
Kenya Wildlife Service’s Veterinary and Capture Services support healthy, viable wildlife populations across Kenya. Guided by the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act and the Veterinary Surgeons Act cap 366, we set standards and coordinate wildlife veterinary care, disease surveillance and animal welfare services. We provide wildlife health data to national animal health systems and strengthen links between wildlife, livestock and public health—especially for preventing and controlling zoonotic diseases. The Division supports conservation operations that require capture, immobilisation and translocation, and builds capacity for veterinary teams across conservation areas. We manage veterinary information systems, oversee diagnostic laboratory services, and provide technical input to forensic investigations. We also collaborate with national and international partners and share scientific information on wildlife health and welfare.
